A short film for TaoTronics Wireless Sports Headphones was released today — and all we can say is buckle up for 80 seconds of the most relentless, incredibly intriguing chaos ever.
“Go For It” is the theme of this intense, nearly two-minute TaoTronics spot starring a 60-year-old lonely man, who’s shown using the brand’s wireless sports headphones to cancel out the ugly, raucous call from three youngsters.
The spot opens on an old man wandering alone on the streets after being fired from his job, reminiscing on his old golden days as a basketball star, which excites pity and commiseration.
He stares at three youths shooting hoops, as he walks by a neighborhood basketball court.
Around the 28-second mark, one of them catches the Old Man staring and snarls loudly, “What are you looking at, old man?”
Now if you think the old man is intimidated, you are wrong. The visuals tell the opposite story, as the old man calmly slips on his TaoTronics and morphs into a younger version of himself.
The spot shifts to fast motion, and the tension gives way to the fighting spirit of a classic TaoTronics energy. The Old Man is seen powering across the court — the image of raw strength and resilience.
Fittingly for us, the video ends with a predictable yet satisfying climax: the Old Man kills it on the court. He takes down the bunch and drains a jumper in his opponents’ mouths.
The premise of “old man vs. flippant youth gang” isn’t crazy original, but it looks better than say Adam Sandler going on the warpath against Neo-Nazis in Death Sentence.
The concept of “Go For It” is simple and relatable: overcoming critics to go forward and accomplish what is seemingly impossible. This video is a celebration of the dormant inner strength that lies within everyone. It’s a reminder for everyone out there who feels less than because of unnecessary comparisons, that they are strong and unique.
This is certainly something that we ALL should be able to relate to.
